The subtlety of hue differences inherent with different metals flaunts an almost hypnotic beauty. There are only 3 primary colours groups metals fall into. Gold (yellow) Red (copper) and Silver (chrome) Despite this there are 100s of different alloys containing a varying amounts of the above 3 colours resulting in range of shades that are all slightly different. Most of these are silver based (neutral) Darker or lighter shades of the ‘silver’ colour are widespread in industry from stainless steel cutlery to silver jewellery to the dull silver of mild steel. The table is made up of rare earth elements such as molybdenum and tantalum which fall into the silver colour group and approach the value of some precious metals.
